Click hereShe said, “You are vulnerable”
And it was a compliment;
But I had never thought
Of Myself
As Vulnerable.
For months I tried
And tried
To identify and define
My Vulnerability.
No luck.
Until I saw
Someone else who
Was Vulnerable:
She was Herself,
Authentic and
Courageous;
Able to Be,
To Immerse
Her Whole Self,
Heart and Soul,
Into the Flowing
River of Life;
Unafraid
Of turbulence
And waterfalls;
Confident
To remain
Afloat:
Allowing
The River’s current
To Carry Her
Safely.
Hmmm…
I recognized
A bit of
Myself.
At my best
I Stay Afloat,
Unafraid
To express
Emotion
Sensitivity
Fallibility
And
Risk Rejection;
Imperfect Slave
To my Libido
And Kinks,
But not
Arrogant
Demeaning
Shaming
Or Toxic.
Because only if
I accept
Myself,
Can I accept
Others.
To reveal
The Joy
And Richness
Connecting
Us:
Vulnerable Humans
Worthy of Love
And thus,
Able to Love;
Each of Us
Is Significant.
Sometimes
I fail.
Then I know
I can do
Better
Next time.
Let me take the first step:
“I am Worthy of Your Love”
And
“You are Worthy of My Love”
“I afraid to express emotion”
Love that line, especially when spoken by men.
Love the entire stanza.
You write beautiful truths.
May we all be open to them.
Took me a long time to find this,
but the search was well worth the result.
Thank you for writing and sharing.
This is a fantastic poem and a style that I appreciate. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to reading more of your work. And by the way, yes, you are worthy. ❤️
Exquisitely crafted words unfurling beautiful sentiments. Very well done Paul! Thank you for such vulnerability. And love. 💕
So, this actually caught me right in the feels. Raw, unfiltered truth of learning to lay it all on the line for the opportunity to experience heaven on earth: to love and be loved.
You gave my material a chance so I thought I'd return the favor! Turns out this was exceptionally deep and well written. Loving others does indeed require loving ourselves,or at least loving pieces of ourselves. It's a struggle to achieve that but worth it!
