At the hotel breakfast room
six a.m., will open soon
she and I standing there
fresh from the shower
with wet hair,

About my age, about my style
and yes, it’s been awhile
I suggest that we
share a table
and ignore the warning label,

The door opens, we go in
same selection, once again
get our eggs, our toast
our fruit
she’s actually really rather cute,

Both on business, no surprise
we trade facts (perhaps lies)
who we are and
why we’re here
after work, I suggest a beer,

So we go our separate ways
into the early smoky haze
do whatever it is
we do
thinking about beer for two,

At the bar a bit past eight
one might call this a date
she’s changed into
a casual dress
leaving little for me to guess,

We order beers and talk some more
both have rooms on the top floor
both staying here
a few more nights
having seen all the sights,

Two more beers, some finger food
it seems we’re both in the mood
to view the city light
from high
I move my hand to her thigh,

Her room, my room, either one
a perfect place to watch the sun
rise and shine
the next day
a nice mix of work and play,
