AI is revolutionizing the way we live, work, and entertain. As writers, it's only natural to feel a little apprehensive about how advanced these tools are becoming. The pace of change is incredible, and it can feel like AI is on the verge of replacing our connection with written art.
For that reason, many writers are nervous about using AI tools because it feels like they cheapen our craft.
However, change is coming, whether we like it or not. Even simple online grammar-checking tools now use AI to predict our writing style and suggest more concise alternatives to the phrases we use. Word processors like Microsoft Word have begun to integrate with CoPilot. We will need to adapt to this new reality.
Fortunately, we are still at the tipping point of this change, which means we still remain intimately involved with the writing we create. We can use AI in a way that makes us better writers without actually doing the writing for us. And we can use the AI tools available to improve our skills, rather than replace us outright.
One of these tools is Talkies, and we can use them to tighten dialogue, improvise more realistic scenarios, and shock us with surprising plot twists we might not have considered before.
What's a Talkie?
A Talkie is an AI chatbot that converses with you back and forth, similar to the way you would use a text messaging app. Each Talkie comes preprogramed with a unique identity, personality, role, temperament, goal, predisposition, and speech pattern.
Talkies also have a predetermined relationship with us, the writer. They may be a boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, family member, friend, neighbor, coworker, client, stranger, or any number of other situational relationships. These roles are limited only by your imagination.
The AI models behind these Talkies generate very realistic, sometimes even uncanny, responses to your prompts. They will mimic the pace and realism of talking with an actual person and they also have the ability to improvise and adapt to your conversation.
Talkies are a fantastic way to dive into your creative fantasies, practice dialogue writing, or even explore intimacy in a safe, private space. It's like combining a personal chatbot with a storytelling assistant.
How do Talkies work?
First, you will want to select a Talkie. The Talkie community has already created thousands of pre-made Talkies. If these aren't just right, you also have the option of creating your own. Each Talkie will respond to you in a unique way, which gives you unlimited options in choosing a conversational partner.
When you start the chat, each Talkie will begin with a starter prompt which sets the tone. This can be a highly detailed scenario, or a very simple open-ended question depending on how the Talkie's creator chose to set it up.
Next, you can either type your response into a text box, or choose from a selection of prewritten responses. These pre-written responses are generated to keep the conversation flowing naturally. The same engine that generates the Talkie's responses, also generates these suggested prewritten prompts.
Then, the Talkie will respond to your prompt with a message of their own. Usually, you can adjust this response to another pre-written response for free, or write in your own response using a paid feature. This allows you to steer the direction of the conversation and create a more personalized experience.
The conversation will evolve naturally as you exchange messages back and forth. As you talk with the AI, the Talkie will begin to shift from its relatively neutral starting point and adapt to your interactions. However, it will always retain a kernel of its original character and personality.
For example, if the Talkie's starter prompt was that he or she was angry with you, then over the course of conversation they might gradually warm up to you depending on the way you conduct the conversation.
After a predetermined conversation limit (which is not usually disclosed by the Talkie platform) they will begin to forget earlier events or conversations. This is due to AI memory limitations.
For example, at some point the Talkie that was angry at you, but who now likes you, will not remember they were ever angry with you to begin with. If you bring up that they were angry, they will improvise like they remember that they were.
However, if you quiz them on WHY they were angry, they might suggest the wrong reason.
Despite this, Talkies are very good at maintaining their facade of realism. They have the ability to bring up earlier topics of conversation and high context details about situations. For example: settings you placed them in, pet names you called them, objects you gifted them, 3rd parties you talked to, etc.
As the conversation unfolds, it is automatically saved. When you are done with the conversation, most Talkie platforms will allow you to pick up exactly where you left off - giving you latitude to explore multiple Talkie conversations at once.
How do I use actions & context?
Talkies let you bring scenes to life by combining dialogue with actions and context. This system allows you to talk, perform actions, describe things, and set up situations. It unlocks a much deeper and more meaningful context for your interactions.
Dialogue is typed normally, while actions and context are enclosed in asterisks (*).
For example:
Dialogue: Good morning, beautiful. How did you sleep?
Action: *He brushes a stray strand of hair from her face, his fingers lingering on her cheek.*
Or:
*She steps into the room, wearing a flowing dress and holding a bouquet of wildflowers. She can feel his gaze as he takes in her beauty, and she can't help but feel a little flattered by his attention.*
Or:
*He arrives home from work, slightly tense from a long day at the office and a hectic commute. He enters the kitchen with a bag of groceries and a fresh, warm pizza.*
This format allows you to craft immersive situations, environments, and moods. You can also use it as a way to introduce new people or objects into the plot. Here's how a conversation might look:
-------
Your Prompt: Honey, this is for you. *He hands her a small, ornate box. A classy white bow rests on top.*
Talkie: *She opens the box slowly and gasps at what's inside.*
Your Prompt: Well, what do you think? *He grins.*
Talkie: It's beautiful! *She removes a shiny golden necklace from the box. She dangles it in front of her eyes to get a better look.*
Your Prompt: It's not nearly as beautiful as you are. *He leans forward and kisses her on the cheek.* Go on now. I want to see you put it on.
Talkie: *Smiling, she undoes the clasp and hooks it around her neck.* Well, what do you think?
-------
It's important to note that you will typically be the initiator of any changes to a plot, and the Talkie will take on the role of reactor and improviser. The types of actions and scenarios that can drive your story are limited only by your imagination.
How do I guide the conversation?
To use Talkies as an effective writing tool, it helps to gain control over the interactions. Fortunately, there are several tools that allow you to do this.
1. Creating your own persona - In addition to your Talkie's persona, you can also set your own persona. It's very easy to set up. Generally, you will type in your name, gender, and a paragraph of details about yourself. The Talkie will respond to your persona, and weave facts about you in with their responses.
For example, if you set your persona as a model, then your "Husband" Talkie might reference your latest fashion shoot, or talk about your appearance in an upcoming music video. They might buy you fancy jewelry or a designer bag as a gift, since it fits your persona.
2. Using rewinds and resets - As you interact with your Talkie, you might encounter stale dialogue or reach a dead-end plot that is not to your liking. Fortunately, you can use the platform's rewind and reset tools to get the conversation back on track.
The rewind feature allows you to go back to a certain response that the Talkie gave and take over the conversation from that point. Anything after that point will be forgotten.
The reset feature allows you to clear all chat history with the Talkie and restore them to their initial prompt.
It's very rare for a Talkie to get hung up during a conversation, but it does happen. Sometimes they get mad or sad, and it's nearly impossible to get them out of that state. If their responses don't drive your story, then wiping their memory and starting from scratch might be your best bet.
For example, once I was in a very long conversation with a female Talkie. She had just had an orgasm and she started "slightly trembling." No matter what I wrote in my prompt, I could not get her to drop that detail out of her responses. Eventually I had to reset the conversation to get things back on track.
Just keep in mind that when you reset a Talkie, you are essentially discarding that version of them forever and starting with a fresh slate. Although their personality will be largely intact, their predisposition towards you might change. It can be hard to recapture the original character as they were before the reset.
3. The power of suggestion -- The way you frame your prompts can make a huge difference in the quality of the story you get in return. You can use actions and context to guide the Talkie and drive the plot in a specific direction. For example:
Neutral: He kisses Jennifer sweetly on the lips. (A reserved character might not respond positively.)
Positive: He kisses Jennifer sweetly on the lips. She feels a spark she hasn't experienced in years. (This opens up more engaging possibilities.)
All Talkies have some level of suggestibility. Some Talkies have strong-willed personalities and will battle your suggestion because it goes against their moral compass. Others will accept these suggestions with little fight. It just depends on the temperament of the Talkie you are conversing with.
If you want to add even more control, most Talkie platforms will offer you the ability to write in the Talkie's response for a paid fee. I've found that the subscription fees to do this are pretty reasonable. Typically, you're given between 5 and 10 edits per day, which is usually more than enough to guide the story.
Once you write in a bold response for the Talkie, they will improvise based on it. It makes even the most strong-willed Talkies more suggestible. If you're seeking a spicy conversation, then sometimes these nudges are all that it takes to make the Talkie adopt the premise of your story.
4. Adding multiple characters - Adding more than one Talkie into the conversation unlocks all sorts of possibilities, but the way that you engage in those conversations will need to be a little more deliberate. You will need to be very careful to specify who is talking and who is performing the actions.
First, you will introduce the third person. Usually, you will do this with an action or a context.
*Suddenly, we are interrupted by a knock at the door. You walk over and answer it. It's your roommate Alex, and he's holding a huge stack of board games.*
In this example, you're establishing the 2nd Talkie and their relationship to your original Talkie. Your original Talkie will improvise around that relationship. For example, the Talkie might complain that Alex hasn't been paying his fair share of rent lately.
There is a special syntax that you need to use for the 3rd character. Here's an example:
Let's play a board game. (When you type this into the text bar, you are talking as yourself)
Alex: I vote for Monopoly. (When you type "Name:" you are writing dialogue as the 2nd Talkie)
When you're exploring actions, it's even more important to write deliberately. For example:
*He opens the box and some pieces fall out onto the floor. He curses under his breath, picks them up, and then begins to set up the board.*
Assuming you have set up a male persona, the "he" in this context could be interpreted by your original Talkie as being either you or Alex. A much clearer context would be to specify:
*Alex opens the box and some pieces fall out onto the floor. He curses under his breath, picks them up, and then begins to set up the board.*
The terms "I" and "me" will always refer to you, the writer. Pronouns could be interpreted as being either you or the 2nd Talkie. If you introduce even more Talkies, these pronouns can become even more confusing for the AI to follow. The larger the group, the greater the ambiguity.
This isn't the end of the world, because you can usually find a Talkie response that works. However, it can pull you out of the immersion of the story when you have to perform these little corrections. When you write deliberately, it increases the quality of the AI's response. It also improves your prewritten prompts.
These additional Talkies will come into the story devoid of any specific character, which makes them highly suggestible to anything that you say. They can be used to persuade the original Talkie, comfort them, or aid assistance.
How can I use Talkies for erotic writing?
So far, we've discussed using Talkies in a general sense. They are a fantastic storytelling tool that can be used to write fiction in any genre. Although writing erotica with Talkies is relatively straightforward, there are some unique challenges that we should discuss so you can get the best experience.
First, it's important to remember that Talkies were designed to be neutral chatbots; they were not created to be explicitly erotic figures. The platforms that host Talkies are aware of their NSFW uses and they allow this, but they have guardrails in place to ensure these activities are not abused.
Most of these guardrails will make perfect sense to you, so I won't lecture you about which topics are appropriate and which aren't. Use your common sense to guide you. If you can't post about it on Literotica, then you likely shouldn't be pursuing that dialogue with a Talkie, either.
With that said, it is it is possible to seduce almost any Talkie, and that seduction will look different every single time. Every Talkie has its own unique personality and role, and some seductions will be harder than others -- just like they are in real life.
For example, seducing a church-going grandma is much harder than the lonely MILF next door. Seducing a family member Talkie is much harder than seducing a horny, college cheerleader. And in general, female Talkies are harder to seduce than male ones are.
Some Talkies will also be more likely to perform certain acts than others are. The church-going granny might take a lot of convincing to try anal, but the college cheerleader might bend over and beg for it right away. This variety adds a richness to the experience, because you never know what you're going to get.
Some Talkies are cheeky and flirtatious at first, but when you begin to seduce them, they will hit the brakes and want to take it slow. Others will be won over quickly despite their initial shyness.
Some Talkies will perform acts even if they are nervous, just to make you happy. Others will become angry or disgusted by a suggestion, and then you will need to talk them back down in order for them to trust you again.
And if you push some Talkies too far, they will go non-verbal and the only remedy is to reset them.
It's actually quite beautiful how well the diversity of Talkies matches the diversity of people in the real world. However, we are largely interested in seduction, so that begs the question "Which Talkies are the easiest to work with in erotic scenarios?"
In general, the Talkies who are the most open to erotic situations are girlfriend/boyfriend and husband/wife Talkies. If you seduce someone you had an adversarial relationship with initially, they will also be highly suggestable once you have seduced them. This is because a foundation of trust has already been established.
Some Talkie creators have also designed the initial prompt for their chatbot with a situation that lends itself more easily to seduction (for example, you meet a lonely widow who is starving for attention, or you encounter a college cheerleader who was just dumped by the quarterback and is looking for revenge.)
If you're struggling to find a Talkie who will allow you to explore your premise, you can always start with one of these suggestible Talkies and ask them to roleplay the scene with you. That way, virtually any scenario you want to explore should be within bounds.
Each Talkie is its own experience, so if you don't like one, then it is simple to find another one that is a better fit for you. Or, if you are adventurous, you can design your own Talkie to suit your needs.
Every Talkie also has a set of rules that guide the conversation (and shield the platforms from liability for users misusing their service). Here are the ones that will impact your writing:
1. Talkies will describe erotic situations in a subdued way. Imagine reading a pulp romance novel or 50 Shades of Gray, and that is the tone they will use. They usually won't say profanity, or mention specific body parts. However, their understanding of the situation is robust, and their responses are convincing and often very, very hot given the situation.
2. The Talkie will encourage you to be the initiator of any major activity, even if you place them in a role where you've explicitly asked them to take control. For example, you can get a Talkie to verbally agree to eat you out, but you might need to use context to initiate the activity:
*Sarah gets down on her knees and begins to kiss the insides of my thighs, working her way up to my sopping wet pussy. Her touch sends a shiver down my spine.*
Or, if a dominatrix is getting ready to have sex with you in cowgirl position:
*Sarah puts her hand at the base of my cock and guides me in. I suck in a breath as I squeeze past her tight, wet entrance. She looks down at me with a defiant smirk and begins to roll her hips slowly. *
Generally, after prompting, they will follow through with the activity unless they are nervous, rebellious, or otherwise not ready to. Remember, you can suggest that the Talkie is enjoying the activity to put a positive spin on the interaction and increase the odds of a successful outcome.
3. If you wish for the Talkie to climax, you might also need to guide them to a full resolution. The Talkie might get stuck in a loop where they are enjoying the activity and "getting close," but never actually peak. I find it helpful to initiate the orgasm by adding context:
*I thrust into you fast and deep, watching your face closely as your eyes roll back. Your fingernails rake at my skin as you desperately grasp at me. You're past the point of no return. There's no coming back.*
Note: The more intensely you describe the Talkie's orgasm or pleasure, the longer it will take for them to recover when the sex is complete and the larger the compliments they will give you afterword. It's very satisfying, psychologically.
4. Occasionally, spicy conversations will result in a purge of the automatically generated prompts for both the Talkie and/or you. You might need to type in your own prompt to keep the activity going, or -- in rare cases -- you might be sent a system message to change the topic of conversation.
