The fire crackled softly, casting flickering shadows across the campsite. Zara leaned back on her elbows, her eyes turned to the stars above. The night air was cool, but the fire's warmth made her skin hum.
Jax sat across from her, lazily poking at the fire with a stick. His smirk hadn't left since they settled down for the night. "So this is nice and peaceful, right?" Jax said, sipping his drink.
"Yeah, it is. I'm kind of glad we had to stop here." Zara replied. Her voice relaxed.
"Don't miss your phone yet?" Jax teased.
Zara scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Please. I can be totally without it; it was one time."
Jax chuckled, setting his drink down. "One time, huh?" He leaned in, his eyes glinting in the firelight. "How about we make things more interesting?" "Truth or dare?"
"Truth or dare? Seriously, Jax, what are we, twelve?" Zara sat up straighter, brushing her hair out of her face.
"You're not scared, are you?"
"Of you?" Never," she shot back, challenging him. "Fine, I'm in. Dare."
Jax tapped his chin, thinking, holding back a smirk. "Alright, give me your phone. I'll read one of your messages or look at your last photo; your choice."
Her eyes widened before she laughed softly. "You wish. Fine. One photo, but only because I've got nothing to hide."
Jax opens her phone, scrolling through the photos. "Wait... This is us?"
Zara locked eyes with him. "Yeah, Jax It's us. From our last ski trip."
Jax didn't respond right away. He just stared at the picture of them--Zara smiling happily, making goofy faces. It made him feel warm. At home.
"That trip was fun," he said, clearing his throat and giving her the phone back. "We should do that again."
Zara jolted a little when their fingers brushed as he gave it back.
They fell into comfortable silence, the only sounds coming from the fire and the rustle of leaves in the distance. Their eyes lingered on each other a little too long. Zara broke the silence.
"Alright. Your turn now--truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Well, aren't you brave?" She whispered, a small smirk playing on her lips. "Okay, what was your most embarrassing moment?"
Jax nearly choked on his drink. "Really?" he asked, trying to catch his breath.
"Yes, really. Or you can always pass and drink."
"No fucking way. I'm not backing down--that's not me."
"Alright, let's hear it," Zara said, leaning closer.
Jax took a sip of his drink before answering. "But you can't judge me. Freshman year, I tried to impress this girl by doing a backflip and ended up with a sprained wrist."
Zara burst into laughter, nearly spilling her drink. "And how did that go?"
"You tell me--do you see me with anyone?" His voice was slightly Nervous
Her laughter softened as their eyes met. "Fair point. But see? This is why we do safe dares."
"You just don't like to take risks." He shot back. His smirk returned.
Zara leaned back, her laughter turning softer. "Speaking of risky moves... that ski trip was full of them."
Jax chuckled, stretching out his legs. "You mean when you almost crashed into that tree?"
"Almost?" That wasn't almost--I totally crashed into that tree." She shot him a look. "Buuut I wasn't the only one. You face-planted right into the snow.
"Hey, I was just testing gravity. It worked perfectly," Jax said, his grin widening.
The firelight danced between them, memories filling the comfortable silence. Zara broke it again. "That trip was fun. We still should do it again--maybe after this one."
Jax looked at her for a moment, how the firelight reflected on her face. "Yeah, we should."
"But for now, it's your turn to impress me, daredevil," Zara said, crossing her arms. "Truth or Dare?"
Jax raised an eyebrow. "Dare. Gotta live up to the name."
Zara smirked mischievously. "Okay, but don't blame me if you regret this one... I dare you to hop in the lake fully clothed."
Jax laughed, standing up. "Easy. You coming with me?"
"Hell no, Jax. I may have dared you, but I'm not that crazy."
She clapped as Jax climbed back up to the fire, water dripping from him. "Ten out of ten, show off."
He's always like this. Fearless. Wild. It made her heart skip a beat--just for a second--before she pushed the feeling down.
"Hey, you dared me." Jax said, sitting back down. the fire's heat battling the chill still clinging to him. Steam rose faintly from his soaked clothes.
Their game continued, sharing memories and laughter. But one thought lingered in Jax's mind. Should he tell her tonight? The idea of telling the truth made him nervous.

"You want another drink?" Jax asked, already holding one out for her.
Zara raised an eyebrow. "What are you trying to do, get me drunk?... But sure. Thanks."
Their fingers brushed again for just a second, sending a spark through their body. He lingered a moment too long before pulling away.
"You good?" Zara asked as she opened the drink.
Jax didn't answer right away. His eyes stayed on the ground as he opened his own drink then he smirked. "Yeah, better than okay. I mean, what could be wrong?"
Zara watched him closely, her curiosity piqued. "You're acting weird."
Jax chuckled, though it sounded forced. "Weird? Me?" You're imagining things."
Her eyes narrowed.. "Prove it; let's continue our game--truth or dare?"
A challenge flickered in his eyes. "You already know it's gonna be a dare."
Zara hesitated for just a beat too long before speaking, her voice quieter than usual. "I dare you to kiss me."
Jax leans in slightly, his voice dropping lower. "You better be careful what you're asking for." His hands brushed hers, his eyes searching hers, longer than necessary.
Slowly he leaned in, their lips inches apart, testing the waters, his heart pounding.
He wasn't sure why this felt different--why it mattered more than it should have.
Finally, he closed the distance, brushing his lips against hers. It was slow and tender, the kind of kiss that left her breathless.
Zara's fingers curled into his hair, her breath quickening as his lips moved against hers.
Jax pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against hers. His heart raced faster than it should have for a kiss that was supposed to be just a dare. But it didn't feel like one.
His breath steadied, though not quite calm. His hand rested against her cheek, thumb slowly brushing her skin.
"I've thought about this," he whispered, his voice low, barely audible over the crackling fire. "More than I should have."
Zara's breath caught, her fingers tightening in his hair. "Me too." She admitted her voice soft.
For a moment, neither of them moved. The weight of unspoken words hung in the air.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She's asked, searching his eyes.
Jax smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Because it was easier to pretend than lose you." "But it's always been you."
Zara's heart clenched at his words, the air between them thick and charged. "You're an idiot," she whispered, though her voice betrayed her.
Jax's hand stayed on her cheek. "Maybe, but I'm your idiot."
Zara laughed, but it caught in her throat. "I was scared too. Scared that if this fell apart, I'd lose you."
"You're not losing me." His voice softened. "Not now, not ever."
Jax's thumb brushed along her cheek before his lips found hers again, slower this time, like he was savoring every second. His other hand slid to her waist, pulling her closer, deepening the kiss.
Zara leaned into him, her fingers still tangled in his hair.
Yeah, not a game anymore. Her heart is racing faster.
Jax's hand slid from her cheek to back to her neck, his thumb brushing gently along her jawline. His lips moved against hers like he had all the time in the world.
Zara's breath hitched as he deepened the kiss, his fingers tightening slightly at her waist, grounding her. Every touch felt deliberate--like he wanted to memorize everything.
"You're everything I need," Jax whispered against her lips, his voice is rough with emotion.
Zara's pulse raced in response, her fingers curling tighter in his hair. "Don't stop." She whispered, barely steady.
Jax didn't need another invitation. His mouth found hers again, hungrier this time, as if the weight of everything they'd held back had finally cracked open. His hand slid beneath the hem of her shirt, his fingertips brushing against her bare skin.
"It's always been you." He whispered against her lips. "We should go to the tent if you're sure about this."
A shiver ran down her spine. Those words...were something she'd always wanted to hear, maybe even more than she cared to admit.
The fire cracked softly behind them. The tent is only a few steps away.
Jax pulled back slightly. "You sure?"
Zara nodded, her fingers brushing over the nape of his neck, steadying them both. "I'm sure."
Jax grabbed her hand firmly, unrelenting as he pulled her to her feet. His fingers laced with hers, guiding her toward the tent, his pace steady but filled with intention.
The warmth of the fire faded with each step. He opened the tent flap, the fabric billowing softly in the night breeze. Zara felt her skin prickle with anticipation as they stepped inside.
Jax kissed her again, more passionately than before, their tongues tangling together. His fingers curled around her waist, pulling her closer.
Zara's heart raced--not just from the kiss, but from how real this moment was.
Jax broke the kiss, gasping for air. "I've waited for this for so long." He whispered, his voice low and rough, filled with need.
"Tell me if you change your mind," he whispered again, his lips brushing against her neck.
"I won't," Zara whispered. "Don't stop."
"Good." His lips trailed down her throat, his teeth grazing her skin enough to leave her wanting more.
Jax's hands slipped under her shirt, his fingertips pressing into her sides as he pushed the fabric higher. His breath brushed against her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.
"Last chance to change your mind," he whispered, his thumb brushing across her bottom lip before dipping lower, his hand tracing a slow path down her stomach.
Zara's breath hitched, her body arching slightly towards his touch, heat pooling under his fingertips.
"I'm not changing my mind," she murmured, her voice breathless, her fingers curling into his shirt, pulling him closer.
Jax smirked against her skin, his hand slipping beneath the waistband of her jeans, tugging them down with deliberate ease.
"Good," he rasped, his voice rough with need. He pulled back just long enough to strip his shirt and toss it aside. "Lay down."
Zara did, her heart racing, and pulled him with her.
Jax hovered above her, his eyes dark and unreadable, causing her breath to catch in her throat. Every inch of her felt alive, buzzing under his gaze.
"What are you waiting for?" she whispered; her voice was challenging, daring him to close the distance between them.
Jax chuckled, his hands trailing down her sides, fingers brushing her bare skin with slow precision. "Impatient are we?"
Her breath hitched, her eyes locked with his. "Jax... "No more teasing."
He chuckled softly, leaning in to kiss her again--slowly and deliberately--while his fingers worked at his belt. The rest of their clothes came off easily, urgency taking over, yet every touch remained intentional.
Jax's lips found hers again--hungrier, this time--like he couldn't get close enough. His jeans hit the floor with a thud, the last barrier between them gone. He kissed her hard, his body pressing against hers, teasing, making her feel every inch of him. "You feel that?" he groaned, his voice thick. "It's all because of you."
"Jax..." she whispered, her voice trembling with need. Her nails raked down his back as he slowly pushed into her, inch by inch, causing his forehead to falling to hers with a low moan.
"Fuck...you're perfect," he groaned, his eyes closing briefly as he caught his breath. "And finally mine."
Zara's breath caught, her body arching into him, a soft moan escaping from her lips. His pace slowed--deliberate--each movement deeper, making her feel everything.
"You're my everything," he whispered, his voice trembling with raw emotion. His lips found hers again. Softer this time but no less passionate.
Zara's hands clung to him, fingers threading into his hair as their kiss deepened. Each movement unraveled her a little more, leaving her completely exposed to him.
Jax groaned against her mouth, his rhythm picking up again, rougher now, as if the restraint he'd been holding onto finally snapped. Every thrust sent a fresh wave of heat through her. Her breath catching with every push deeper.
"Say it again." He rasped, his forehead resting on hers, their breaths tangling in the narrow space between. "Tell me you're mine."
Zara's gaze locked on his, wide and ungrounded. "I'm yours," she whispered, voice barely holding steady. "Always."
Jax's lips crashed onto hers in a response mix of hunger and something deeper--something raw and possessive that made her heart race. His grip tightened on her hips, pulling her closer, like he couldn't get enough.
The tension between them hummed in the air, each slow roll of his hips stoking a fire that burned deeper with every second. Their eyes never left each other.
"Jax..." she gasped, her fingers tightening in his hair. "Don't stop."
Jax's forehead dropped to her shoulder, a shudder running through him. His breath was ragged now, his control slippin. "I won't," he promised, his voice thick with need. His grip on her hips tightened, guiding her into each slow, deliberate thrust.
Zara's breath hitched, tension winding tighter with every movement. The world blurred around them, the only thing grounding her was the steady press of his body and the rough sound of his breathing on her ear.
"Zara," he groaned, his voice crackling with emotion like he was barely holding himself together. His eyes met hers in the dim light. "Stay with me...right here."
"I'm here," she gasped, her nails digging into his back as her body trembled beneath him. "I'm not going anywhere."
Jax's movement slowed for a heartbeat, deep and deliberate--then the tension snapped. Her body tightened around him, breath catching as the rush swept through her, raw and consuming, leaving her completely undone in his arms.
Jax followed with a soft, guttural moan, his grip tightening on her hips as he lost himself in her.
They clung to each other as the storm passed, their breathing ragged, hearts pounding in unison. His lips brushed against hers again--soft and reassuring--as they slowly came back down together, the world quiet except for their breath mingling in the dark.
"That was... incredible," Jax whispered, running his fingers through her hair.
"Yeah, it was," she whispered back.
"I meant what I said back there... you're my everything."
"I know, Jax, I know." She smiled, her voice soft. "And I'm totally yours."
They lay together under the blanket, tangled and warm. What happens next, they didn't know. But right now, it didn't matter.
