Sophia still wasn't sure about entering the scientific trial. It paid well and what had been mentioned in the advert was very detailed and upfront. It also helped that it was hosted by the College's Sociology Department, but she was still slightly daunted thinking of it.

She was a senior in college. This was the year you had to know what you wanted to do with your life but at the same time it was also coming to be the year where she felt absolutely uprooted, completely not knowing what to do. Her dad had died at the beginning of her senior year. Her parents were divorced and her mom was in a loving new relationship with a guy she liked and who liked her that gave her a little half brother not too long ago as a late in life present, but she felt like a part of her foundation had shifted. Her computing degree had been easy for her but she wasn't particularly in love with it. At least it would allow for a lot of remote work opportunities. She had two soft job offers from some side projects she'd done during her studies but neither particularly excited her. While she'd finished her classes and her final project already and could theoretically already work the next three months while her term still ran, she had wanted to just use the time to skate a bit and decide on what she wanted to do with her life.

So when she saw the advert, she applied on a whim. And got an immediate call-back.

She fit the bill, she was definitely not a virgin. She, quite frankly, very much enjoyed sex. And she was reasonably athletic. She loved swimming, having been on the swim team in high school and still went swimming at least twice a month and she was 22 so well within the criteria. She loved her sex toys, she wasn't seeing anyone at the moment and her last sex had been over a month ago so this could be one of those crazy stories to tell her friends and kids about at some point.

Sophia knew she was doing it because she felt out of sorts and hoped something this crazy would shake her back into place. She didn't know quite how correct she would be.

She was in stirrups, which wasn't unusual, she had been going to an OBGYN for a smear test yearly since she was 16 but it still felt strange today.

Sophia thought it all started well. The psychology PhD student, Charlie, and Dr. Jenna Martin, the OBGYN conducting the research had been incredibly nice and welcoming and she actually got good vibes off them, which made her feel immediately at ease despite not having any idea what to expect.

"Hi Sophia, thanks so much for making yourself available so quickly," Dr. Martin said warmly.

"No worries, I didn't have much else to do that would give me $150 for 4 hours of my time."

Jenna and Charlie both laughed.

Charlie continued, "Ok, as mentioned in the email, we split the 4 hours between 3 days, with today being the longest at about two and a half hours and then about an hour for the next one and a final half hour appointment. Also, we're leaving you with a sex toy so in theory there's more hours, just none where you have to do anything. Today, we're going to interview you and Dr. Jenna will do the initial medical exam. This will count as your yearly check-up and pap smear as well, so you're sorted for that, you mentioned in your intake survey your last one was 11 months ago, so this is quite timely."

"Oh, that's great, that saves me a trip."

"Sure, sure, let's have a sit-down, then. Would you like any water, coffee?"

Charlie guided her toward a nice office suite with a 2-seater professional-looking couch that faced two armchairs. It was bright and modern and felt welcoming.

"Maybe some water?" Sophia's throat was dry, probably from her slight anxiety.

Jenna nodded at Charlie, "I've got it, you get started."

"Alright, Sophia, let's sit down."

Sophia had seen the exam table with the stirrups next to the office desk, thought it looked slightly less sturdy to what she was used to, then again, this seemed to be Dr Martin's College office rather than a proper doctor's office so the exam table was probably a mobile one.

"Anything else you'd want?"

"No, I'm good thanks."

"Great, then let's get started. First off, thanks so much for making yourself available. I realize some of the questions are really quite probing and intimate, but we'd really appreciate your honesty. There are literally no wrong answers, it's just about what your habits, feelings and experiences are. We would also ask you not to have sex during the duration of our study. Our interview is being recorded. I will transcribe it and the recording will be destroyed. These will then be anonymized and published as part of my PhD thesis. Dr. Martin has kindly agreed to assist with the medical exams, which I'm obviously not qualified to give. She is doing her own paper on the use of sex toys and vaginas' health as a smaller study, so her time is not completely wasted by helping me. As mentioned in the email, and just to note, here's the ethics approval of the University and the submitted abstract for the study." He gave her the documents printed out and it once again made her feel at ease.

Dr. Martin came back into the room and handed her a glass of water with a smile.

"Thanks so much," she smiled gratefully, taking a big gulp, she was parched, and her nerves had her taking further sips quickly.

"And also, just to say, if you need a break at any point, just let us know."

"Thanks, Dr. Martin."

"Oh, please call me Jenna or Dr. Jenna, if you want."

"Great, then let's get started, Sophia, when did you have sex for the first time?"

"When I was 15."

"How was it?" Charlie followed up.

"It was good. I don't think I had much of a hymen or whatever because I didn't even bleed. The boy was older and more experienced. Basically, he knew what he was doing and I guess it made me want to do it more? He moved away for College but I didn't have a problem finding any other guys."

"Just to check, how old was he?" Charlie asked.

"He was 18," Sophia answered.

There was a moment of quiet. "Do you think that was wrong when you were 15?"

Sophia replied quickly, "Not really. I know legally I shouldn't have had sex with him, or rather he shouldn't have had sex with me, but to be honest, I had a really good time, he treated me well while we were dating, and he gave me a good relationship with sex."

"How many 'serious' relationships have you had, Sophia?"

"I guess that depends on how you want to categorize what a relationship is..."

"We'll categorize it as someone you dated for 2 months or more and/or people you have lived with."

"Ok, then I guess two, including the first one," Sophia frowned.

"Don't worry, as mentioned there's no wrong answers. You indicated in your intake survey you were heterosexual. Have you had any experiences with same sex encounters?"

"I guess I've kissed girls at parties, and you know, just for fun to see how it feels and it didn't disgust me or anything but it didn't really excite me to a point where I wanted to discover if I felt more."

"How many sexual partners have you had?"

"Ok, I was pretty sure you were going to ask that so I've tried to calculate and the number is, I guess, high..."

"As mentioned, we don't judge, there's no wrong answers."

"So I'm pretty sure I've had sex with 35 different men."

"How many of those did you date or had sex with more than just for a night?"

Sophia thought for a moment, "Like 5?"

"What was your longest relationship?"

"Like 4 months, with the guy in High School and then there was one for about 2 months in my first year at College."

"For those 5 then, when you dated or slept with them, were you monogamous or exclusive when being with them?"

"Yes. I was."

"What do you think of monogamy?"

"If I am dating someone, I'd expect to be monogamous on both sides. I think it's very important for me to feel secure and allowing myself to be vulnerable in a relationship."

"In a relationship, how often would you like or expect sex?"

"I think that's two different questions," Sophia frowned in contemplation.

"What do you mean?" Charlie asked perplexed.

"The questions for me would be, 'How often would I like sex' and 'how often would I expect sex."

"Alright, feel free to answer both then."

"I would expect sex about once a day but if I was in a relationship I would definitely like more."

"How much more?"

"Ok, so I've only got a few examples of this but during the 2-month relationship in College, the guy took me to his parents' lake house for Labor Day weekend and we had it to ourselves and we had sex -- a lot."

"A lot?"

"Like at least 5 times a day? It was a great weekend. Damn him and his cheating ways."

"And you'd expect that?"

"No, I'd like that, but I'm pragmatic, under normal circumstances there'd be work, life stuff, I know it's not realistic to fit so much sex into a normal life but I'd expect sex at least once a day, though."

"Thanks for the clarification."

"Ok, now then we get onto some more in-depth questions. How many sexual positions have you tried?"

"Hmm, I'm not quite sure."

"Should I list some, would that be easier?"

"Sure, thanks."

"Missionary."

"Yes."

"From behind -- lying down on the side or doggy style"

"Yes."

"(Reverse) Cowgirl."

"Yes."

"69?"

"Yes."

"The lotus?"

"What's that one?"

"That's the one where you're sitting on top of the guy who's also sitting, with your legs wrapped around?"

"I guess."

"Ok so before running out of positions, let's just say you've done the major one, is there one position that you can remember you thought you didn't want to try again?"

"I don't know if I don't want to try it again but I nearly had an accident in a shower, where a guy slipped and there was glass involved so yeah, not in a rush to repeat sex in a shower."

"Do you have a favorite position?"

"This is going to sound boring but missionary. I do like the lotus one but there's something about missionary. I'm not really tall so some positions can be awkward but missionary has always felt the best for me. You can be really close and I like that, I guess."

"Have you ever given or received oral sex?"

"Yes to both."

"How was it?"

"I enjoy both."

"Have you ever had anal sex? If so, how did you like it?"

"Yes, it wasn't the best but I don't think we prepared properly. I read up about it after and I know there's loads I could do to make it easier on me but the opportunity hasn't come back up again."

"Have you ever encountered or thought of alternative sexual lifestyles?"

"What do you mean? Like kink stuff?"

"Somewhat, kink may imply just trying it and enjoying it but alternative lifestyle, it may be a way of life."

"Can you give me an example?"

"Have you ever been dominated in bed or dominated someone?"

"I mean, I've had sex with straps involved."

"Did you enjoy it?"

"Yes."

"Would you want to include aspects of being dominated in your life, for example, be told what to wear...things like that, that would be more of a lifestyle choice then."

"Hmm, I mean I'm up for trying anything once. Might be nice, if the guy has good taste to not think of what to wear." Sophia chuckled.

"What about other non-standard sexual practices? For example, have you ever had rough sex?"

"Yes."

"How did you enjoy it?"

"I very much enjoyed it."

"Have you ever had painful sex?"

"What do you mean? Like sex that was painful on purpose?"

"Yeah, for example either via a slap on a body part to heighten pleasure or for example by forcing an orgasm when you're overstimulated."

"No, I guess not? I guess the only time was during that Labor Day weekend and I had so much sex, I was sort of sore but I still wanted it?"

"Have you ever had rape fantasies?"

"No, not really..."

"Have you ever played with dubious consent play?"

"What's that?"

"Like someone starting to have sex with you when you're asleep, when you're not able to give full consent, or when you're slightly drunk."

"Oh, I guess that's hot. I've had guys wake me up with sex, I liked that."

"What would you say is the thing you look out for in a partner?"

"Men who know what they're doing. And usually I prefer larger guys in every way."

"You mean their penis?"

"Ehm, I mean yes. But also guys that are tall. I know I'm short but I like feeling smaller with a guy."

"Would you call yourself a 'size queen'?"

"No? I mean it's not a total deal breaker. I've had great sex with guys that were smaller than average but if I consider my three best sex partners, they were all on the larger side, like the first one in High School and the College guy and a really hot one-night stand."

"What do you find better about larger penises?"

"I mean, I have never had sex with like porn star big dicks, but I've had sex with some guys who I'd say were very well endowed, definitely better than average, and I very much liked it. The College guy was probably 8 inches hard. I mean I never measured him but...he was big. I really enjoyed just feeling completely taken over, you know? "Yes."

"No, though that sounds interesting."

"No."

"Have you ever used a plug?"

"Like a butt plug?"

"No.

"Have you ever worn a chastity belt?"

"No," she laughed at that one.

"Have you ever wanted to use one?"

"I mean, like most other things, I'm a 'sure let's try it' girl."

"Now, I just have a few questions about your life. You're currently a student, what are your future plans?"

"I'm unsure, I guess I'll get a job and work."

"You're doing a computer science degree, correct?"

"Yes, I'm pretty open about where in the US, I don't really have a lot of family left and they're pretty scattered all over so I'm not tied to any place. I guess I'd like to travel so computer science and remote work will work well for that."

"Do you have a favorite type of work as part of your degree?"

"I have done some cyber security classes and done some small projects but I'd need to do a lot more training there but intellectually, I thought it was the most interesting. I like the puzzle aspects about it. I know it's got high earning potential but to be honest, I don't think I'd quite want the responsibilities. In an ideal world, I'd want to get a programming project, get a time frame to do it that isn't 'immediate' and then just do it with sort of minimum contact with people."

"Would you ever want to have kids?"

"Yes, if I find the right partner."

"That was a very quick answer."

"My parents' divorce wasn't great. I think I would only want kids if I had a stable relationship."

"When do you envision having them?"

"I mean, I don't really care, just as mentioned with the right partner and before a pregnancy would become dangerous for me."

"Thanks so much, Sophia, that concludes my part of the interview and I'll hand over to Dr. Jenna," and he nodded at the woman sitting next to him. Sophia looked at her more closely for the first time. She was probably around mid-forties with an absolutely beautifully maintained bob.

"Thanks again for your time, Sophia, I just have a few questions before the medical exam. Do you take any contraceptives?"

"Yes. I have an IUD."

"Which one?"

"The non hormonal one. I got on the pill when I was 15 and hated it, I gained weight, and I felt like I was going crazy despite a few adjustments so I've had the cooper IUD since I was 15."

"How does it work for you?"

"I know there's horror stories out there but other than a heavier period, I've not had any problems."

"How was the insertion?"

"I didn't mind it at all, unsure if the doctor just knew what he was doing but I barely felt it, it was definitely not even painful."

"Have you had it exchanged yet?"

"No, I'm still on the first one. I know it can last up to 10 years."

"Do you use condoms when you have vaginal sex?"

"Yes. Always."

"When you give oral sex, do you use protection?"

"Eh, no?"

"I've noted a lot of people don't think about the fact that a lot of sexual infections can be transmitted orally. That's actually leading me to want to organize more funds for some more sex ed on campus. Have you had a health screening for sexually transmitted infections before?"

"Yes. At my check-up last year. It was all negative."

"Great, then we'll add another round today for you as well so you're all up to date."

"One of the exams will be a sex toy wear test. Basically, you'll wear a vibrator for 24 hours and it will slightly vibrate at random intervals, would you be comfortable with that?"

"Yes. Sure," Sophia said, though she was a bit apprehensive about it, having horror visions of it just plopping out during that time.

"Great, then let's get started."

When Sophia got up, she felt slightly woozy.

"Are you alright?" Dr. Jenna asked with a critical eye.

"Yes, sorry, I think I am a bit nervous."

"No problem, do you feel ok to continue?"

"Yes, sure, sorry."

"We'll start with the normal OBGYN exam. Charlie is going to leave us now. Did you want to start with a breast exam or gynecological exam?"

"Let's get the boobs out of the way."

"No problem. But first let's get the blood samples for the STI tests out of the way while you're still dressed. When was the last time you've eaten today?"

"Breakfast."

"That's great then."

The blood test was quick and Sophia appreciated Dr Jenna's efficiency.

"Here's a curtain, if you want to step behind it and take your t-shirt and bra off. There's a robe for you."

"Ok, done."

Jenna pulled the curtain back and helped Sophia to step forward to the exam table.

"If you want to sit up."

"I believe you know the drill but I'm going to touch your breasts, chest, your armpits and palpate in small circles for any lumps."

"Yes."

"Great, you can lie down then."

She lay down flat and Jenna helped her raise an arm, putting the robe out of the way of one breast.

Sophia liked being touched and she was sensitive enough that slight goose bumps made her nipples into harder points as Dr. Jenna moved between her breasts. She tried not to think of that though.

"Alright, nothing to worry about here. Now then, feel free to put your t-shirt back on and off with your shorts."

Sophia put her bra and t-shirt back on and her shorts and panties off, there was a box of tissues and she made a quick swipe across her vagina just in case of any embarrassing discharge. She knew OBGYN's had probably seen it all but it made her feel better.
